Wellows vs Profound (2026)

Wellows is a self-serve citation tracker from $29/mo. Profound is an enterprise marketing-agent platform with a 7-day trial and custom pricing. Different purchases; here's which one fits.

On paper, Wellows and Profound both track how AI engines treat your brand. In practice they are bought by different people. Wellows is a self-serve citation tracker you can switch on today for $29. Profound now sells itself as an AI Marketer: agents for research, content, reporting and workflows, with Answer Engine Insights and Agent Analytics alongside. Its pricing page answers "Is Profound only for AI search?" with a plain no.

Wellows facts come from wellows.com/pricing and llms.txt (updated 23 September 2026). Profound pricing was read on 24 October 2026. Both are recorded in our catalog.

The short answer

If you want AI citation tracking with a price you can see, Wellows. If you're an enterprise marketing team buying a broad agent program under an annual contract, Profound. Few buyers are honestly torn between the two; they're usually choosing between a tool and a vendor relationship.

Where Wellows is ahead

You can buy it. Every Wellows plan is on the pricing page, every plan carries every feature, and you can start a 7-day trial on any of them. The answer balance is easy to reason about: one prompt on one engine on one day is one answer, so Basic covers 12 prompts daily across all five engines and Scale covers 240.

Wellows is also more specific about citations. It separates explicit citations of your own pages from implicit citations of third-party pages that mention you, tags each cited page's sentiment, and turns third-party pages that leave you out into outreach targets with contacts. For a team whose daily work is earning citations, that is a tighter fit than a general marketing-agent suite.

Where Profound is ahead

Scale and scope. Enterprise tracks up to nine answer engines, including ones Wellows says it doesn't cover, such as Claude and Copilot. The Prompt Volumes dataset estimates real query demand per prompt, which helps decide which prompts deserve tracking at all. Wellows has nothing equivalent listed.

Procurement is the other. Enterprise comes with dedicated support, SSO and SOC 2. Large organizations that need those on day one won't find them on Wellows' feature list.

The price question

Profound's current page shows no Enterprise price. Our earlier catalog estimate put Enterprise contracts at around $40k a year, but that figure isn't on the page we read in October, so treat it as a planning number and get a quote. The earlier Starter and Growth tiers are no longer listed. Agents run on credits, and the Agency Growth plan's 400 credits per client workspace come with no published price.

Against that, Wellows Scale is $497 a month, or about $6k a year.

What neither publishes

Profound lists Agent Analytics among its products, but its listing doesn't document a crawl-to-citation path or CDN connectors. Wellows publishes no crawler logs at all. Neither documents first-party visitor analytics that tie AI-referred sessions to conversions, or a content agent that publishes approved pages to Webflow, Framer or WordPress through a review inbox.

Promptwatch does. Agent Analytics ingests logs from Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN or custom HTTP, maps crawls to citations and flags errors, from Professional ($245/mo). Visitor analytics records AI-referred conversions. The Content Agent publishes on Business ($579/mo). It also sits between these two on price and scope: self-serve with published plans, but with the engine coverage of an enterprise tool (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode on paid plans), plus SSO and audit logs on Enterprise when you need them.

Who should pick which

Pick Wellows if you're a small team or an agency that wants to start this week, needs five engines, and lives in citation and outreach work. Pick Profound if AI search is one part of a wider marketing-agent program, procurement needs SOC 2, and the budget is sized for an enterprise contract.

Verdict

Wellows is the better AI-search tool for most readers of this site; Profound is the better enterprise vendor for a narrow set of large buyers. If you want Profound's engine breadth without its contract, or Wellows' self-serve model with crawler logs and conversions on top, Promptwatch is the one to trial first. Explore is free; Essential is $95/mo with a 7-day trial.
