Best AI Search Tools for Small Agencies in 2026 (1 to 5 People)
AI search tools ranked for agencies of one to five people running 3 to 10 clients: seat counts, setup steps, automation that saves hours, and the cheapest credible plan.
A small agency doesn't have an AI search analyst. It has one person, often a founder or a senior SEO, running the program for somewhere between three and ten clients next to everything else on their plate. That changes what a good tool looks like. Engine count matters less than you'd think. What matters is how long a new client takes to set up, how much of the monthly reporting runs without you, and whether the bill still makes sense at client three and at client ten.
We ranked the tools below on those questions. Prices and limits come from each tool's entry in our directory. Promptwatch details come from its llms.txt, read on 2026-10-21. Where a listing doesn't document something, we say so.
What a one-person program needs
Seats are rarely the problem at this size. Two to five people need logins, and maybe a client wants read access. The real constraints are time and roster math. So we weighted per-client setup effort, automation that delivers reports and to-do lists on a schedule, and a plan structure where adding a client doesn't add a subscription.
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch has the clearest path from "testing this on one prospect" to "running ten clients," and every step is priced in public.
Start free. Explore covers 1 project and 10 prompts on ChatGPT only. That is enough to run a prospect's most obvious buying questions before the sales call and show them where they stand. It is not enough to run a client program.
Then the math. Essential is $95 a month for one project, one seat, 50 prompts, and 6,000 responses. Agency Kick-off is $199 a month with unlimited projects, unlimited prompts, 10 seats, and 10,000 responses shared across the roster. Two clients on two Essential plans cost $190, which is slightly cheaper than Kick-off. At three clients it flips: $285 against $199. At ten clients Kick-off works out to $19.90 per client with about 1,000 responses each. Whether 1,000 is enough depends on how many prompts and engines each client runs, so load your heaviest client during the 7-day trial and watch the meter.
Kick-off also adds things Essential doesn't list, namely 10M crawler logs, state and city tracking, and Ads Radar, and it raises visitor events from 200K to 500K. Unlimited pitch projects mean the prospect audit you ran on Explore can live in the agency account instead.
The bigger reason it ranks first is how much of the weekly work it does on its own:
- The Slack integration maps channels to projects, so each client gets its own channel with scheduled briefings and a chat over live data.
- Scheduled Chats run any Agent Chat question or skill on a timer, such as the built-in 7-day GEO briefing, and post the result in the app or in Slack.
- The Action Board is an AI-generated to-do list. Its Discovery agent investigates your data weekly and suggests up to five evidence-backed actions per run, and a Weekly Action Digest email collects them.
- Scheduled PDF reports go to your inbox for default or custom dashboards, and white-label PDFs carry your agency's branding.
Setup per client is a short list. Prompt Explorer suggests prompts from Google Search Console, ranking keywords, People Also Ask, and the client's own pages. Search Console connects once at the organization level, with a property chosen per project. Crawler logs come through Cloudflare, the WordPress plugin, or one of the other CDN integrations, and visitor analytics go in through a Google Tag Manager template.
The honest limit: agency plans don't include the automated Content Agent or AEO articles. Those are on the Business brand plan and Enterprise. Kick-off gives you the diagnosis and the to-do list, and your team writes the pages.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ suits a small team that sells execution. Starter is $295 a month ($245 annual) with unlimited seats, API access, and the Action Center, which turns findings into assignable tasks such as schema generation and content reformatting. A free Essential tier with about 300 credits works as a real trial.
Two cautions for a one-person program. Usage is credit based, so a roster's monthly cost is hard to predict. And Starter is single country. Our listing doesn't document how Starter handles several client brands in one account, so ask before you load a roster. There is no published AI crawler-log product.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI Starter is $250 a month annual ($300 monthly) with 3 seats, 350 custom and 1,000 industry prompts, and extra seats at $25 a month. Three seats fits a three-person agency exactly. Its distinctive lever is serving AI-optimized versions of a client's pages to LLM crawlers without changing the human site.
The trade-off is your time. Our listing notes that personas and prompts take significant configuration, data refreshes weekly, and reporting is weak enough that teams export to Excel to build client charts. For a solo operator, that is the hours you were hoping to save.
4. Mentionable
Mentionable has unlimited team members on every plan and an Agency tier at 299 EUR a month (excl. tax) with unlimited client projects, 385 prompts, white-label reports, and an MCP server. Pro at 149 EUR covers 3 projects and 231 prompts, which fits an agency at the bottom of our range. All seven engines are included with daily tracking, plus fan-out capture and cited-domain tracking.
Spread across ten clients, the Agency tier's 385 prompts give each one about 38. Reddit engagement, page audits, and generated pages draw on scan credits on top of that, and drafts are pasted onto the site by hand.
5. GEO Monitor
GEO Monitor is the low-cost way to get unlimited brands with daily runs. Essentiel is €149 a month for unlimited brands, all five of its engines, and a custom report. Branded PDF reports with share links can auto-send monthly, which removes one recurring task.
The catch is the shared quota: 30 prompts a day across every brand on Essentiel, which is three per client at ten clients. Multi-user access with per-brand permissions starts at Pro (€249). Perplexity and AI Mode aren't listed, history caps at six months, and the app is in French. The legal notice names a one-person micro-enterprise, so ask about support capacity.
6. AIrketing
AIrketing Agencia is €129 a month (€116 annually, excl. VAT) for 20 brands and 240 prompts, which is about 24 prompts per client at ten. It runs weekly on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, and Google Search, with country and city set per prompt. A GA4 connection attributes sessions, events, and conversions to prompts, and reports export to PDF and Word.
Weekly is the only cadence. Claude, Copilot, and Grok aren't tracked, and no API or MCP is listed. It is built for Spanish SMEs and local businesses, and that's the roster it fits best.
7. Cockpyt
Cockpyt sells by project count, which maps neatly onto a small roster. Consultant is 79 EUR a month for 3 projects and 45 questions. Agence is 139 EUR for 5 projects and 75. Each project gets a monthly GEO audit with a 33-point checklist and a prioritized plan, which is close to a ready-made client deliverable.
It scans weekly through the official APIs of ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity only, so there is no AI Overviews, AI Mode, or Claude. Five projects is the ceiling on the public grid.
8. Keyword.com AI Visibility
Keyword.com AI Visibility is the add-on path for an agency that already sells Google rank tracking. Users and projects are unlimited, shared reports and MCP come with every plan, and the entry package is $9.80 a month for 20 credits. Credits reset monthly, and white-label reports are a $29 add-on.

Which one to pick
With three to five clients in one language and a tight budget, Cockpyt or AIrketing will do the counting. GEO Monitor gets you unlimited brands if a few daily prompts per client is enough. Mentionable is the strongest low-cost option for daily seven-engine tracking. AthenaHQ and Scrunch AI fit execution retainers, if you have the hours to configure them.
The recommendation
For a small agency, the deciding factor is usually who does the Monday-morning check. On Promptwatch, the Discovery agent has already written up to five actions, the client's Slack channel has its briefing, and the month-end PDF is scheduled. Agent Chat answers the "why did we drop" question from crawler logs and citation data in the same project. Start with Explore on one prospect, move to Kick-off at client three, and let the Action Board set the week. Try it at Promptwatch, or read the full Promptwatch review.
