Promptwatch vs Contentstack Canoe vs GenRank vs AEO Vision (2026)

Promptwatch ranked against three newer AI visibility trackers, Contentstack Canoe, GenRank and AEO Vision, on engines, prompt limits and price.

Three of the four tools on this page are new enough that most buyers haven't sat through a demo yet. Contentstack Canoe launched on 1 October 2026 as the headless CMS company's first standalone product. GenRank grew out of ChatGPT rank tracking. AEO Vision sells a $9 ChatGPT tier, which is less than most people spend on lunch. If you are shortlisting a first AI visibility tool, or wondering whether one of these newcomers could replace what you already pay for, this ranking is written for you.

How we ranked

We scored each tool on four questions. Which engines does it watch, and does the vendor say so on the pricing page? How many prompts do you actually get for the money? Does it stop at reporting, or does it help you find out why you're cited and act on it? And can you trust the published limits?

That last one sounds pedantic. It decided one placement on this list.

Every number for the three newer tools comes from its entry in our catalog, read from vendor pages in mid-October 2026. Promptwatch figures come from its own llms.txt, re-checked on 15 October 2026. Where a vendor doesn't publish something, the table says "Not published" and we don't guess.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch ranks first because it is the only tool here that answers the questions that come after "were we mentioned?". Prompt tracking runs across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot, DeepSeek, Mistral and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, monitored through the real interfaces rather than only through APIs. Each prompt carries a search volume, a difficulty score and its query fan-outs, so you can tell a prompt worth chasing from one nobody types.

The layers underneath are what the other three don't publish. Citation analytics break sources down to the page and the domain, including Reddit citations, YouTube citations and offsite mentions. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler hits from ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others, and traces the path from crawl to citation. Visitor analytics tie AI-referred sessions to conversions through a small script or a GTM template. Content Agents then plan, write and publish pages to Webflow, Framer or WordPress (via an official plugin), with a review inbox before anything goes live.

Pricing is public. Explore is free with 10 prompts on ChatGPT only. Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial and covers 50 prompts across all tracked models, 6,000 responses and 200K visitor events, but no crawler logs. Professional at $245 moves to 150 prompts and adds 25M crawler logs plus state and city tracking. Business is $579. Agencies start on Kick-off at $199 with unlimited projects and prompts.

2. Contentstack Canoe

Contentstack Canoe has the most generous free plan in this group, and it's a real one. No card, no expiry, 1 brand and 20 prompts a month on ChatGPT and Gemini. You get a monthly report, the top two recommendations, and a site audit with an AI Readiness Score that checks robots.txt, CDN or firewall blocks, noindex tags and the sitemap. The audit is included on every plan, which we liked.

Growth costs $279 a month, or $2,790 a year, at what Contentstack calls limited-time launch pricing. That buys 5 brands, 2,000 prompts a month on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, share of voice against up to ten named competitors, cited URLs split into yours, competitors' and third-party, and API and MCP access capped at 10,000 requests a month. Existing Contentstack enterprise customers get Growth free through 31 December 2026.

Read the prompt accounting before you get excited. A prompt is one question on one engine, so 2,000 a month comes out to roughly 16 questions run daily across all four engines. Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Copilot aren't listed. Growth keeps six months of history, and Enterprise (SSO, SLA, data residency) isn't planned until early 2027. The listing doesn't document crawler logs, conversion tracking or CMS publishing, which is odd for a product from a CMS company.

3. GenRank

GenRank is the ChatGPT specialist. It started as a way to fetch ChatGPT answers for your prompts without logging in, and that origin still shapes the product. Essential at $69 a month covers 1 brand and 25 prompts with daily response updates, mentions, citations and sources, competitor insights and sentiment. Pro at $199 moves to 3 brands and 150 prompts and adds Query Fan-Outs, a Content Optimizer, Brand Radar, Entity Monitor and Ad Insights. Custom starts at $349 with unlimited brands and prompts, usage-based billing and API access. Essential and Pro both start with a 7-day trial.

Fan-outs and ad data on a $199 plan are genuinely useful, and plenty of trackers skip both. The problem sits on the pricing page itself, which doesn't say which AI engines each plan covers. For a visibility product, that is a strange thing to leave out. Twenty-five prompts on Essential is a thin sample, and you wait until the $349 tier for an API. An older GenRank blog post mentions a free 10-prompt tier that the pricing page no longer shows, so don't plan around it.

4. AEO Vision

AEO Vision is the cheapest way on this page to see real ChatGPT answers for your prompts. Lite costs $9 a month for 1 brand, 30 ChatGPT prompts checked every three days, 3 competitors and 3 content creations. Higher tiers track ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Mode, with citations, cited-domain insights, sentiment and bi-weekly action reports. Reddit Insights and an AI agent for automated monitoring arrive on Solo. Agency Starter ($499) and Agency Pro ($999) give 300 and 650 account-wide prompts with unlimited clients, which is a sensible shape for agencies.

It ranks last because you can't be sure what Solo ($99) or Growth ($299) actually include. AEO Vision's llms.txt and its plans page disagree. Depending on which one you read, Solo is 30 daily prompts on 3 platforms or 70 daily prompts on 5, and Growth is 100 daily prompts or 300 per brand. The plans page also rendered without prices when our entry was written, and there is no free trial on paid brand plans or agency plans. Treat Lite as a $9 experiment and confirm the limits at checkout before you go any higher.

Who should pick which

Pick Contentstack Canoe if you want a free monthly report that never expires, or if you are already a Contentstack enterprise customer and Growth costs you nothing until January. Pick GenRank if ChatGPT is where your buyers ask questions, you want fan-outs and ad data for $199, and you don't mind asking sales which engines you get. Pick AEO Vision if $9 is the whole budget and a ChatGPT check every three days is enough signal for now.

Pick Promptwatch if the report goes to someone who will ask why the number moved and what you plan to do about it.

Our recommendation

Start with Promptwatch. Explore gives you a free ChatGPT baseline, and the Essential trial lets you run 50 prompts across every tracked model for a week before paying anything. The reason to stay is what Professional adds. Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot and ClaudeBot actually reach the pages you want cited. Citation analytics show which Reddit threads and YouTube videos the engines quote instead of you. Visitor analytics show whether the AI traffic converts. And when a gap turns up, Content Agents draft the page and drop it in your review inbox. None of the three newcomers documents that chain, and that chain is what turns a visibility score into work you can report on.
