Promptwatch vs Am I Cited vs Cognizo vs Wellows (2026)

Four citation-focused AI visibility platforms ranked: Promptwatch, Wellows, Am I Cited and Cognizo, compared on citation depth, engines and price.

A mention tells you an AI engine said your name. A citation tells you which page it trusted enough to link. For a growing number of teams the citation is the metric that matters, because it points at something you can change: a page to improve, a source to earn, a competitor URL to replace. The four tools on this page all put citations at or near the center of the product. They disagree a lot on what to do once you have the data.

This ranking is for marketers and small agencies choosing a platform where the citation report is the main deliverable.

How we ranked

We looked at citation depth first. Does the tool show only "cited or not", or does it tell you which page, which domain and which type of source? Then engine coverage, because a citation report that only covers ChatGPT misses most of the picture. Then what the tool does with a gap: outreach, content, publishing, or nothing. Price came last, judged against what you actually get at each tier.

Every figure for Am I Cited, Cognizo and Wellows comes from its entry in our catalog. Promptwatch figures come from its llms.txt, re-checked on 15 October 2026. Where a vendor hasn't published something, we leave it out or say so.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch has the deepest citation layer of the four. Citation analytics break sources down by page and by domain, separate out Reddit citations, YouTube citations and offsite mentions, and show citation type breakdowns. Citation trends then show how sources and volume move over time, so you see the week a competitor's comparison page started replacing yours rather than a single snapshot.

It also answers the question citation-only tools can't: why that page was or wasn't picked. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits in real time (ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others), with errors and the path from crawl to citation. If a bot never reached the page, no amount of outreach will fix it. Visitor analytics then show whether the cited pages send AI-referred visitors who convert. Content Agents run content gap analysis and publish new pages to Webflow, Framer or WordPress after you approve them in a review inbox.

Coverage spans ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, among others. Explore is free with 10 prompts on ChatGPT. Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial (50 prompts, 6,000 responses, no crawler logs). Professional at $245 adds 150 prompts and 25M crawler logs. Business is $579.

2. Wellows

Wellows is the most citation-focused tool here. It scores visibility on citation share against your competitors, with an AI Visibility Score and a Citation Score. The idea we liked most is its split between explicit citations, where the engine cites your own page, and implicit ones, where it cites a third-party page that mentions you. Most trackers don't make that distinction.

Each gap comes with a lever. A cited third-party page that never mentions you becomes an outreach target with a contact and a template. A prompt where competitors are cited and you aren't becomes a content opportunity, which KIVA drafts against your Search Console data. Sourced sentiment, full run history and a WordPress plugin are included. Content Optimization and Content Scoring are in beta.

Pricing changed in September 2026, and the old per-domain engine ladder is gone. Basic is $29 a month, Standard $97, Growth $249 and Scale $497. Each plan is a monthly balance of AI answers (1,800, 6,500, 18,000 or 36,000), where one answer is one prompt on one engine on one day, and every plan has all five engines (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity), unlimited projects, prompts and seats. Basic covers 12 prompts a day on all five. Claude and Copilot aren't tracked. Every plan has a 7-day trial.

3. Am I Cited

Am I Cited wins on engine coverage per euro. All eight engines are on every plan, including the entry tier: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Grok. Competitor share of voice, sentiment and cited sources are included, and AI Agents and Content Agents are bundled rather than sold separately.

Billing is credit-based. One AI response costs 0.015 credits, with agent runs and articles costing more. Starter is priced from 50 euros a month for 50 credits, which covers 3,000 AI responses, 1 domain, 200 prompts, 10 competitors and 10 AI articles. Pro and Premium are higher credit tiers, but the catalog has no prices for them. Enterprise is custom and adds API, SSO, an audit log and an MCP server. A seven-day trial with 1 domain, 5 prompts and 3 articles needs no card.

We ranked it below Wellows because its citation reporting is shallower. The listing covers cited sources but doesn't document page-level, Reddit or YouTube breakdowns, and there is no equivalent to the explicit and implicit split. Credits also don't roll over, though you can top up.

4. Cognizo

Cognizo is the all-in-one option, and it is priced like one. It runs prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude, Meta AI and Grok, and reports visibility, sentiment and citations by model, topic, prompt and region.

Platform starts at $499 a month for 150 prompts, 5 platforms, 8 AI articles a month, AI traffic analytics, ChatGPT Ads, MCP and API. Done-for-You starts at $899 and adds 180 articles over 6 months, lead tracking, and AI crawler access and protection. Enterprise is custom, with all platforms, multiple brands, SSO and an SLA. Checkout is demo-led, so you can't switch it on today. There is also an agency partner program with white-label reporting.

For a buyer who mainly wants citations, the price is hard to justify. The $499 entry is several times what the other three charge to start, and the citation detail on the listing doesn't go deeper than theirs.

Who should pick which

Pick Wellows if you want one citation metric to move, with outreach contacts and drafts built in, across several small projects on one shared balance. Pick Am I Cited if all eight engines at the entry price matter more than citation depth, and you're comfortable doing credit math. Pick Cognizo if you want a vendor to produce content and track leads for you and the $499 to $899 budget is already approved.

Pick Promptwatch if you need to know why a page gets cited, not just that it was.

Our recommendation

For a citation-first team, the tool to trial first is Promptwatch. Its citation analytics go to the page, separate Reddit and YouTube from the rest, and track trends over time. That is already more citation detail than the other three listings document. The bigger reason is what surrounds it. Agent Analytics crawler logs tell you whether the engines can even read the page you want cited, which is the first thing to rule out before spending on outreach. Visitor analytics with conversion tracking show whether winning that citation sent anyone who bought. And Content Agents turn a missing citation into a drafted page waiting in your review inbox. Start on Explore for free, then use the Essential trial to test the full model list.
