Gemmetric vs AI Search Vitals (2026): diagnosis or measurement?
Gemmetric audits why AI misreads one site and hands you Fix Packs (free Snapshot, paid from $79/mo). AI Search Vitals logs raw answers on four API engines from $19/mo. Which one fits.
The one-line difference: Gemmetric diagnoses why AI systems misread a single site and packages the fixes, while AI Search Vitals counts mentions and citations on four API engines and keeps the raw evidence for every check.
One is an audit tool. The other is a budget tracker. Buyers compare them because both sell "evidence" as the headline, and both are cheap to try. We benchmark both against Promptwatch.

How Gemmetric works
Gemmetric LLC, based in Birmingham, Alabama, launched on Product Hunt in April 2026. It does not track a long prompt list. It scores how well AI systems can understand a business on four layers. GEO is whether the site is readable for AI. GEM is whether outside sources corroborate it. AI Perception is how models recognize and describe the business. AI Identity is whether there is one clear definition. Pro blends them into an AI Visibility Score.
Every finding links to its evidence and lands in a Fix Pack or Situation Brief. Gemmetric does not edit your site; your team implements and re-scans. It runs its own crawler, GemmetricBot, which is listed in Cloudflare's Verified Bot Directory.
Plans: the free Snapshot covers up to 10 pages, twice per 30 days. Starter at $79 a month gives one managed site, 2 seats and 25 scans, but leaves out the AI Visibility Score, AI Perception and monitoring. Pro at $249 adds those, plus 30-day Citation Presence measurement, 5 seats and 100 scans. Agency Starter is $699 a month for 3 client domains with Prospect Audits; Agency Pro is $1,499 for 10.
The weak spot: the product and pricing pages do not name the engines. Only the Product Hunt listing names ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Citation Presence is a beta, re-measured over 30 days.
How AI Search Vitals works
AI Search Vitals runs saved prompts on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek. For every successful check it stores the raw answer, actual model, market, language, web-search mode, run time, token usage and cited URLs. It reports mention rate, citation rate and share of voice against up to 20 competitors, with a citation explorer. Three audit tools sit alongside: a crawlability checker, a content checker and AI Query Expansion.
Plans: Lite is $19 a month for 20 prompts and 1,200 checks. Standard is $79 a month for 50 prompts and 6,000 checks. Premium is $199 for 100 prompts and 12,000 checks. Annual billing is $185, $758 and $1,910 a year. A capacity pack adds 600 checks for $12 a month.
Watch the arithmetic. One prompt on one engine is one check, counted even if the provider call fails. Lite's 20 prompts on four engines daily need about 2,400 checks a month, double the allowance. The site says checks run through provider APIs and may not match what a person sees in the apps. Perplexity, Grok and Google AI Overviews are not on the list. Which engines you get also depends on what the administrator enabled for your workspace.
Who should pick which
Pick Gemmetric if you run one site, AI describes your business vaguely or wrongly, and you want a prioritized list of what to change with the evidence attached. Agencies selling GEO audits get a ready sales artifact in Prospect Audits.
Pick AI Search Vitals if you want cheap, verifiable answer data on four engines and are comfortable reading raw evidence. Run weekly schedules on Lite or the allowance runs out.
Pick neither as your only system if Perplexity or Google AI Overviews drive your category.
The Promptwatch option
Gemmetric tells you what to fix. AI Search Vitals tells you whether you appeared. Neither shows whether AI crawlers fetched the fixed page, or whether AI visits converted.
Promptwatch Essential at $95 a month runs 50 prompts across all tracked LLMs with 6,000 responses, daily refresh, query fan-outs and citation analytics down to page, Reddit and YouTube level. Professional at $245 a month adds Agent Analytics: logs for ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and the Meta AI crawler with a crawl-to-citation path. That is the proof step after a Gemmetric Fix Pack ships. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. Content Agents run content gap analysis, then write and publish to Webflow, Framer or WordPress after a review inbox, so a page that closes a gap can go live without a developer.
Verdict
Different tools for different questions. Gemmetric wins on diagnosis, AI Search Vitals on cheap raw evidence. Neither is a complete measurement layer. For a program that has to track, explain and attribute, put Promptwatch first.
FAQ
Which engines does Gemmetric check?
Its own pages do not list them. The Product Hunt listing names ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Confirm before buying.
Does AI Search Vitals check the ChatGPT app?
No. It describes its runs as provider or API observations that may not reproduce the consumer apps.
Can I use Gemmetric and Promptwatch together?
Yes. Use Gemmetric's Fix Packs to decide what to change and Promptwatch's crawler logs and citation trends to see whether it worked: promptwatch.com.
